Ts.Tumentsogt: The first windmill of Mongolia, overseen by GE to be launched in 2012

Mongolian Permanent Pepresentative of General Electric International Ts.Tumentsogt has given the following interview to Unuudu” newspaper. General Electric or GE is a global infrastructure, finance, and media company taking on the world’s toughest challenges. From everyday light bulbs to fuel cell technology, to cleaner, and more efficient jet engines, GE has continually shaped our world with groundbreaking innovations for over 130 years.

-GE is installing windmill in collaboration with Newcom. Mongolians have no experience in this area. Are there any difficulties?

-GE was selected in tender for providing station windmill, turbines, and generators. 17 thousand of these 1.5-megabyte turbines are used around the world. This proves GE provides good quality of products internationally. Worldwide, countries are trying to use green wind power, as it emits no carbon dioxide.

-Even some people are against wind power.

-Inner Mongolia ranks 1st in the world with its capacity in installation. Mongolia has a great resource in wind power, but we are not using it. I think it is totally wrong. Due to wrongdoings of some inexperienced companies in Mongolia, people tend to have negative opinions about wind power usage. Using coal to create electricity is utterly and 100 percent wrong.

-Mongolia is understaffed when it comes to wind power. What is GE going to do about it?

-In accordance with the contract with Newcom we will provide technical assistance in power stations in Salkhit for five years and train Mongolian engineers as interns.

-Foreign people criticize Mongolia for not using wind power despite its igreat resource of wind power?

-Yes, they do. Mongolia has the capacity to utilize renewable wind power and water power stations. GE is willing to cooperate with Mongolia in other sectors as well.
