MPRP establishes Women’s Union

The MPRP recently established a Women’s Union, and members have announced the results of their first assembly.

The Women’s Union was organized on December 11, with 580 women from the capital and local settlements taking part in the assembly. At the assembly, the union’s managing officials were elected and a monitoring committee was established. The union will work with an NGO.

Some members of the union told journalists on Tuesday that the union has sent a query to Justice and Internal Affairs Minister Ts.Nyamdorj.

The query calls for the allocation of cash payments promised by the DP and the MPP; the establishment of a “Mongolia without Debt” program under the “Motherland, Independence and Justice” movement; the end of the politicization and discrimination by political parties of aimag and soum officials; the establishment of an anti-drinking movement encompassing all social strata; the passage of a draft election law; and holding accountable the parties guilty for the events of July 1, 2008.

At the end of press conference, the members said women who fight for justice should not be discriminated against, and neither should the media for speaking the truth.
