President continues official visit to Kuwait

President Ts.Elbegdorj met with the Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), Bader Mohammed Al-Sa’ad, on Wednesday.

Ts.Elbegdorj said Mongolia would like to cooperate with the KIA in mutually beneficial projects because Mongolia is planning to implement some large projects as part of its development strategy.

Bader Mohammed Al-Sa’ad said that Kuwait’s interest in investing in Mongolia is increasing and the KIA is studying the feasibility of cooperating in the infrastructure, mining, and agriculture sectors. He added that the KIA has invested in Asia, Africa, and Latin America in recent years.

President Ts.Elbegdorj also met with the Deputy Chief of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Khalid Abdulla Al-Sagar, on Wednesday. The two officials exchanged opinions on using private sector resources to improve bilateral economic ties.

Khalid Abdulla Al-Sagar said that Kuwaiti investors and businesses are interested in Mongolia. He said private sector participation in mining, infrastructure, agriculture, and new technologies should be increased.

Ts.Elbegdorj suggested ways to intensify private sector participation, agreeing that it is crucial to developing the economic ties of the two nations.

The two sides agreed to organize visits between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries and to stage an investment and business forum in Kuwait City in 2012.
