MONGOLIA ATTENDS IDEA COUNCIL MEETING

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A Mongolian delegation has participated in the 20th meeting of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance's (IDEA) council. In this mesaure, which ran November 28-30 in Madrid, Spain, haver taken part G.Batjargal, a director of the Mongolian Foreign Ministry's Department of Planning, Information and Monitoring, and B.Enkhmandakh, the Mongolian Ambassador to Sweden.

They have met Mr. Vidar Helgesen, the secretary-general of the IDEA, to share views on the collaboration between Mongolia and the IDEA. They have spoken about the democracy in Mongolia and a presidency in the Community of Democracies (CD). They have highlighted an importance of focusing on education of the democracy, on strengthening the CD's regional activities, on cooperating with other countries in strengthening the democracy, on exchanging experience. The Mongolian side said their country wants to cooperate with the IDEA in these matters.

This year's meeting has discussed and approved its activity strategy for 2012-2017 and a program and budget for 2012-2014. Moreover, Australia has been elected the IDEA's Council head, Spain--the first deputy head, and Chile--the deputy head.
