TS.ELBEGDORJ AWARDED ABOLITIONIST OF YEAR OF 2011

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The prize for “Abolitionist of the Year 2011” has been awarded by "Hands Off Cain" World Coalition against capital punishment to the President Ts. Elbegdorj. Granted on Monday, the prize was awarded to him for having introduced in 2010 a moratorium on capital punishment. The prize recognizes the person with the strongest commitment to the movement for a moratorium on capital punishment and the abolition of the death penalty. Present at the awarding ceremony were Mrs. Emma Bolino, Vice-President of the Italian Senate; Vincenzo Scotti, the Deputy Secretary of State at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Marco Pannella, the president of Hands Off Cain; and others.
