Standing Committee opposes taxing HDF allowance
Members of the Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science say the state should stop taxing the monthly Human Development Fund (HDF) allowance that citizens receive.
Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, D.Arvin said countryside residents have complained that Saving Bank is deducting MNT 350 in taxes from their monthly allowance of MNT 21,000. Committee members said they have asked that the tax be lifted. The MNT 350 tax amounts to MNT 945 million a month and MNT 11 billion a year.
D.Arvin also said some countryside residents have had difficulty receiving the allowance, since it can only be picked up at Saving Bank. G.Bayarsaikhan said that allowing only Saving Bank to distribute allowance is wrong, and that other banks should also be allowed to distribute it.
The committee members said they will establish a working group to look into the matters.
