NUMBER OF FREIGHT AND PASSANGERS RISE

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ In the first nine months of 2011, 13,338.9 thousand tons of freight and 2,867.5 thousand passengers (double counting) were carried by a railway transport.

Compared to the same period of 2010, the number of carried freight rose by 1,198.6 thousand ton or 9.9 percent and the number of carried passengers rose by 239.1 thousand persons or 9.1 percent. Due to this, revenue from railway transport increased 37.5 billion togrog or 14.9 percent to 288.2 billion togrog against the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, 1.9 thousand tons of freight and 430 thousand passengers (double counting) were carried by air transport. Against the same period of the previous year, the number of carried freight increased by 653.3 t or 52.3 percent, of passengers rose by 131.3 thousand persons or 43.9 percent. Due to this, revenue from air transport went up 32.5 billion togrog or 36.2 percent to 122.3 billion togrog in the first nine months of 2011, compared to the same period of the previous year.
