Green Party officials address controversies

Green Party Chairman S.Maam answered our correspondent’s questions about recent controversies surrounding the party.

Q: There is a rumor that the GP will ally with the MPRP in the 2012 parliamentary election. Could you confirm that?

A: The party has not decided yet on any alliances. A meeting of all the members will decide any alliances with other parties.

Q: MP D.Enkhbat has stated that the State Supreme Court illegally registered Green Party rules changes. What do you say about that?

A: The SSC decision is official and valid. What D.Enkhbat says is his own opinion. Members of the GP supported him and elected him the head of the party. He was nominated as a candidate of the GP and was elected an MP. After becoming an MP, D.Enkhbat said he wanted to disband the party. Therefore, the members of the GP founded a movement to save the party and organized the ninth assembly. I can say all documents have been issued in accordance with the law, of that I have no doubt.

GP legal advisor O.Baasankhuu also answered our correspondent’s questions.

Q: What measures will you take if MP D.Enkhbat does not return the party seal and certificate?

A: We believe that D.Enkhbat is an intelligent and moral person who would not illegally use the party seal and certificate. If he does not hand over these items, the party members will complain to prosecutors. If any unauthorized person refuses to return an organization’s seal and certificate, that action would be considered a crime.

Q: D.Enkhbat has sent a note to the president saying that the SSC has deferred the registration of the CW-GP. What do you think about that?

A: The SSC has rejected the request of the CW-GP because it did not meet requirements. The CW-GP has not applied again, so there is no reason to announce that the registration has been deferred. I can confirm that there is no basis to view the GP rules changes as illegal.
