DP caucus discusses election structure
The DP caucus at Parliament discussed the election structure issue on Monday.
Head of the DP Ch.Saikhanbileg told journalists after the meeting that the caucus will come to a decision on the issue after further discussion.
The DP has previously stated that the number of electoral districts should not be greater than 26. The party said seats could be apportioned either by population or territory, and an electoral district could use one or both methods.
Ch.Saikhanbileg added that if the MPP accepted the DP’s proposal, the DP would consider the MPP’s proposed “48-28” election structure. He also said the DP working group that is working on a draft election law is trying to come up with something that results in a fair election that is free of fraud.
Meanwhile, the MPP caucus discussed the Tavantolgoi issue on Monday. Officials said no concrete decisions were reached.
