PRESIDENT MEETS DR. PACHAURI
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The President Ts.Elbegdorj has received Mr Rajendra K. Pachauri, a Nobel Prize winner and chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
At the meeting, which took place October 10, Dr. Pachauri said he appreciated Ts.Elbegdorj's initiative on Green Policy and mentioned that Mongolia and IPCC have a great opportunity to cooperate in it.
“Mongolia has enough places to produce renewable energy, for example, in Gobi where every family can have electric generator operated by renewable energy resource, and we are ready to cooperate with Mongolia in researches and experimental works,” he said. Dr. Pachauri added that it is possible to introduce a technology that produces fuel from plants and expressed a willingness to collaborate in introducing to Momgolia the latest technology of saving water which is being developed in the IPCC.
Mr Pachauri also suggested a project on urban development. “In vew of many problems like air pollution and others, it would be possible to erect several eco-buildings tjhat are operated by renewable energy,” he said.
The President said he supports these proposals and expressed a readiness to cooperate with the IPCC.
The dignitaries agreed that an experts are to come to Mongolia to conduct a research together with the Presidential team and to collaborate in boosting the “Green Development”.
