EXPANDED TALKS HELD BETWEEN MONGOLIAN AND CROATIAN PRESIDENTS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The State Head Ts.Elbegdorj emphasized that his visit to Croatia is contributing to widening of the bilateral relations and cooperation. It was sounded during the expanded talks on Wednesday with the Croatian president Ivo Josipovic.

The two dignitaries expressed a satisfaction with a development of the bilateral friendly relations and cooperation.

Ts.Elbegdorj pointed out that a visit of the Croatian president Stjepan Mesic paid to Mongolia in 2008 started high-level talks. He congratulated Croatia on approaching to the EU membership and added that this circumstance will give Mongolia a new opportunity to expand the ties with EU.

He said Mongolia wants to introduce the EU standards and requested the Croatian side to support in studying its related experience. The countries can cooperate in sectors of mineral recourses, infrastructure, small- and medium-sized productions and tourism, he went on.

“Within Mongolia's chairing of the Community of Democracies (CD) we can also effectively collaborate in strengthening the democracy,” the State Head said. Mr. Josipovic supported the opinions and proposals of his Mongolian counterpart and underlined an importance of the cooperation in the education sphere. He expressed a readiness to train Mongolian students in Croatian universities and institutes who will major in agriculture, engineering and technological sectors.

The two residents shared views on boosting the collaboration in sports such as in preparing athletes, exchanging athletes and coaches and providing Mongolian Olympic athletes with training environment in Croatia.


They underlined that they support cultural events between the towe nations and people.

After the expanded talks, the two presidents called a press conference.
