Standing Committee discusses student stipends
The Standing Committee on Budget discussed proposed amendments to the Government’s treasury fund on Tuesday. Members approved further discussion.
Parliament passed a law last spring granting university and institute students a monthly stipend of MNT 70,000 each while they are in school. But it has not yet been decided how the stipends should be financed. The proposed amendments that the committee discussed would allocate money from the state treasury’s education fund to pay for the stipends.
Once the proposed amendments are approved by Parliament, the Government will ratify rules for dispensing the stipends.
