WASHINGTON MARKS MONGOLIA-US DIPLOMATIC TIES ANNIVERSARY

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Embassy of Mongolia in the USA organized last Friday a reception of honor in the Four Seasons hotel, Washington D.C,. dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Mongolia-USA diplomatic relations.


Speeches were given by Kh.Bekhbat, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the USA, and by Mr. Kurt M. Campbell, an Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, at the opening ceremony.

Mentioning that Mongolia and the USA launched their ties by signing the document on establishment of the diplomatic relations 25 years ago, Mr. Bekhbat underlined that the bilateral relations and cooperation have been developing successfully in many fields. He also noted that the USA supported and helped Mongolia in its difficult times of transderring to the democratic and market systems, and said the government and people of Mongolia are grateful for this help and are satisfied with the mutually-beneficial collaboration.

In turn, Mr. Campbell emphasized that the Mongolia-USA ties and cooperation meet the strategic interests of the two countries, and expressed hope that the inter-citizen friendship will strengthen further. He mentioned about some achievements in the bilateral relations and cooperation and confirmed that the commercial and economic cooperation has big opportunities to widen, especially in the mining, defense and education spheres.

The reception has attracted some 150 people such as officials from the US administrative bodies, the Congress, NGOs and Mongolians living in Washington D.C.
