DP caucus discusses several draft laws
The DP caucus discussed several draft laws at its meeting on Monday. The caucus established a working group to amend a draft law on local settlement elections. The working group, headed by Z.Enkhbold, was asked to suggest amendments to the draft law because local settlement elections are to be held on the same day as parliamentary elections in June, but there are some provisions in the draft law on local settlement elections that conflict with the law on parliamentary elections.
The caucus decided that the draft law on local settlement elections should be passed in the autumn session of Parliament now underway.
The caucus also discussed a draft law on education that Parliament has previously discussed. Some provisions of the draft law need to be amended, such as one concerning the appointment of secondary school directors, and another dealing with training programs. The DP MPs said these issues should be addressed in the draft.
Another working group headed by S.Erdene was established to amend a draft law on pension imbalances that has been submitted by several MPs. Also, a working group headed by Ts.Bayarsaikhan has been asked to amend a draft law on basic pensions that has been submitted by the Government.
The caucus also decided to report to Friday’s session of Parliament as a minority party, now that the DP has pulled out of the coalition government.
The caucus also discussed price increases in the state and decided to send comments to a Standing Committee on Economics working group that is investigating the increases. The comments say the Government should reduce gasoline prices if reports that Mineral Resources and Energy Deputy Minister B.Ariunsan is to blame for the rise are true.
