LAW ON SOCIAL WELFARE REVISED BENEFICIAL FOR MANY

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Welfare services will be distributed to the homeless, low-income people, orphans and people released from prisons, even alcohol addicts.


This was sounded on Thursday at a news conference called in conjunction with an approval of a draft new wording of the law on social welfare by the State Great Khural.

The services that let enter a normal social life will be rendered to these people through civil-society organizations under contracts.

Financial assistance will be given every month to the disabled children aged up to 16 years, before it used to be granted every quarter.

Monthly allowance will go to the lowest income people and to those urgently needing social welfare, but a survey will run prior to the granting.

Some MNT 31.0 billion has been placed in the budget because an assistance of MNT 40,000 will be given to 130 thousand families each provided that their working-age people will get registered every quarter in the employment service, enroll trainings and attend public works. It is expected that the poverty rate will declined by 6-8 per cent.

The state prize holders, state “Udarnik” /super productive worker/ title holders and war veterans receive allowance of MNT 100,000 every year. By the revised law on social welfare, they will receive these money every month, for this, over 40 billion togrogs have been placed in the state budget for 2012.

Since the cash assistance from the social welfare fund is to expire on July 1 of 2012, this revised law will come into force from mid of this year.

The report was given by D.Ochirbat MP, a head of the Standing committee on social policy, education, culture and science; S.Erdene, D.Dondog MPs, and T.Gandi, the Minister of Social Welfare and Labor.
