Speaker receives Japanese parliamentary delegation
Speaker D.Demberel received a delegation headed by S.Eda, a leader of the Japan-Mongolia friendship group in Japan’s House of Representatives, on Tuesday.
Present at the meeting were MP Su.Batbold MP, the head of the Mongolia-Japan inter-parliamentary friendship group, and MPs Z.Altai, L.Gantomor, Ts.Sedvanchig, and D.Gankhuyag.
D.Demberel emphasized that the Mongolia-Japan inter-parliamentary ties have been widening, and he expressed satisfaction with the role that Japan"s parliament has played in enhancing those ties.
He said that his visit to Japan last year significantly contributed to the widening of the collaboration between the parliaments of the two nations. The two sides" agreement to boost their relations through the principle of a strategic partnership has opened a new page in the inter-parliamentary ties, he said. D.Demberel also added that the parliaments still need to implement certain provisions of the agreement.
The Speaker praised Japan’s progressive mining techniques, and said Mongolia attaches great importance to the 40th anniversary of Mongolia-Japan diplomatic relations this year. He said many actions and measures have been planned to deepen the mutual understanding and confidence between the two nations.
S.Eda said he was pleased to meet with the Speaker and thanked Mongolia for its assistance after Japan was hit by an earthquake and tsunami last year.
He pointed out that Japan wants to intensify cooperation with Mongolia in all sectors, adding that Japan can also help in reducing air pollution in Ulaanbaatar. “In the 1970s, we tackled this problem by means of technical progress,” S.Eda said.
