Elderly and disabled to receive MNT 1 million before Tsagaan Sar
The Government will distribute MNT 1 million to each elderly or disabled person in the country beginning in February. The money will come from the Human Development Fund (HDF), and was included in the 2012 state budget.
The head of the Labor and Social Welfare Office’s Welfare Department, D.Choijilsuren, told our correspondent that the payments were scheduled after the HDF’s National Committee passed rules for distributing the money.
The rest of the population will receive MNT 1 million each in shares of state-owned enterprises.
Parliament has passed a law that also allows the MNT 1 million to be used toward the purchase of an apartment.
The Government passed a protocol in 2011 allowing citizens to borrow MNT 1 million from the HDF to purchase an apartment under the “100,000 Apartments” program, but D.Choijilsuren says funding for that particular program was not included in the 2012 budget.
