Another group to take part in Friday demonstration

The civil movement Promise Claiming People’s Union says it will take part in Friday’s demonstration against rising gasoline prices. The demonstration is being organized by the Confederation of Trade Unions (CTU).

Officials from the movement announced their support for the demonstration at a press conference on Wednesday. They said the Government has failed to regulate and monitor the monopoly of petroleum importers.

The movement’s coordinator, G.Uyanga, said that, by not regulating gasoline prices and monitoring the monopoly, the Parliament and Government have revealed their true priorities. G.Uyanga said people have no recourse but to protest, since they are being hurt economically, and she appealed for people to join the demonstration.

G.Uyanga told our correspondent that Parliament has not implemented its promises and many citizens from the capital and local settlements have complained about increasing gasoline prices. She said the Promise Claiming People’s Union has 160,000 members. She noted that the demonstration on Friday will be peaceful.

The Police Department of Sukhbaatar district says the CTU has received permission for demonstration.
