Mongolian team has most wins in ‘Chinggis Khaan Grand Prix’

The international judo competition, “Chinggis Khaan Grand Prix,” was held at “Buyant-Ukhaa” sports complex. This year’s competition which is organized under the auspices of the President is promoted to the status of “Grand Prix” from “World Cup.” In this competition, over 145 judo wrestlers from 18 countries and territories such as Angola, People’s Republic of China, Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Russia, Ukraine, and USA participated. According to the rules of the International Judo Federation, the Grand Prix winner will gain 300 points in the world ranking; the second placer or silver medalist, 180 points; and the bronze medalist, 120 points.

Mongolian judokas won six gold, four silver, and eight bronze medals in the men’s 60, 66, and 73-kg categories as well as in the women’s 48, 52, 57, and 63-kg categories last July 13.

G.Boldbaatar, D.Amartuvshin, and G.Kherlen took gold, silver, and bronze, respectively, in the men’s 60-kg category; while S.Miyaragchaa and D.Tumurkhuleg won gold and bronze in the men’s 73 kg. In the women’s 48 kg, the gold, silver, and bronze medals went to M.Urantsetseg, G.Otgontsetseg, and M.Dolgorjav. The women’s 57-kg gold medal was won by D.Sumiya; while bronze medals were won by A.Batzul and B.Narantuya. Ts.Tserennadmid got the gold medal and B.Mungunchimeg the bronze in the women’s 63-kg category.

The men’s 81-kg silver medal went to O.Uuganbaatar, men’s 90-kg silver to L.Otgonbaatar, and men’s +100-kg bronze medals to B.Sugarjargal and U.Duurenbayar. N.Naranjargal won the women’s 70-kg silver medal; while B.Munkhtuya took gold and T.Baasanjav bronze in the women’s -78-kg tournament. In the women’s +78-kg category, the silver medal was won by O.Javzmaa.

The Mongolian team led the most number of wins with a total of seven gold, seven silver, and 12 bronze medals, followed by the Republic of Korea and Czech Republic.
