European Union Film Festival in Mongolia
The first European Union Film Festival is to take place in Ulaanbaatar and Erdenet from November 10-14, 2010. The Film Festival is organized by the Delegation of the European Union for Mongolia in partnership with the German Goethe-Institute, Liaison Office in Mongolia, Urgoo Cinema in Ulaanbaatar and “Uurkhaichin” cultural center in Erdenet.
The EU film festival asks EU Member States to showcase one recent, popular and successful film. Such a wide and diverse selection will enable the Mongolian general public to discover the new faces of European cinema.
Ten EU member states that were chosen to participate in the Festival are mainly countries having an Embassy in Mongolia and maintaining strong political, economical and cultural ties with Mongolia for many years. Those countries are Belgium, which holds the rotating EU Presidency at the moment, Germany, France, the UK, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Italy and Holland.
Each country will show one movie, mainly very new productions which have been successful in their own countries, including thrillers, comedies, and drama. All movies are shown in their original language with Mongolian subtitles.
The Opening Night of the event will start on Wednesday, November 10, at 8 pm at the Urgoo Cinema
