Meritus intersects 12.00 meters of 7.53g Gold / Tonne at Gutain davaa

Vancouver, B.C.: Meritus Minerals Ltd. (OOTC:MERMF) (TSXV:MER) (MML)(TSX-V - MER) has received analytical results from an additional eleven holes from its diamond drilling program on the Toordogiin Shil Prospect, Gutain Davaa Project in northern Mongolia.

Highlights from the eleven drill holes include:
  1. a)TSD013 with 12.00m of 7.53gAu/t including 4.40m of 18.50g Au/t;
  2. b)TSD021 with 13.80m of 3.67g Au/t;
  3. c)TSD017 with 10.00m of 1.77g Au/t, and
These four holes were drilled into the footwall zone of the fault referred to in our previous news release of November 5th, 2010, now referred to as the Saddle Fault. Mineralization was intersected approximately as expected, and, as predicted, the mineralized zone dips in an easterly direction.

The drilling has confirmed the presence of faulting in the area in addition to the Saddle Fault. Displacement of the mineralized zone by these faults has led to some holes missing the target zone. However most of the holes which missed the main mineralization have intersected other geochemically gold anomalous zones, or narrow low grade mineralized zones that present additional targets.

TSD019, drilled south of the Saddle Fault on the eastern side of the main mineralized zone, intersected four close spaced narrow zones of mineralization, one of which assayed 7.21g Au/t over a core length of 1.4 meters. These mineralized zones do not appear to have been reached by holes TSD001 to TSD010 and may indicate the development of a new target zone.

Intersection widths are drill intersection widths and do not necessarily represent true widths. Marginal cut off grade for the main mineralized zones is 0.50g Au/t.

The weighted average grade for the intersections reported includes all internal waste.

SAMPLING PROCEDURE

Drill core is transported from drill site to camp where it is logged and cut in half by diamond saw. One half of the core is retained for reference, the other half is sampled in approximately 1metre intervals. Samples are transported to a laboratory in Ulaan Baatar and are crushed and completely pulverized to 90% passing 75 microns.

Two pulps are split from the pulverized sample. One set of pulps is retained by the laboratory for ICP analysis when required. The second set is forwarded to Meritus where sequentially numbered standards and blanks are included. This set of pulps is then forwarded to a second laboratory where fire assay for gold is carried out on a 30 gram charge. Finish is by AAS.

Two standards and one blank are included with every 25 samples submitted. On receipt of results duplicates of selected pulps are forwarded to a third laboratory for check fire assay and to test the efficiency of the pulverization carried out by the preparation laboratory.
