G. Zandanshatar will take part in SCO

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A regular meeting of the Council of the state heads of Shanghai Cooperation Organization /SCO/ will take place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on November 25. In this meeting will participate from Mongolia the delegates led by a Minister of Foreign Affairs G.Zandanshatar.

The Shanghai Five group was originally created in April 26, 1996 with the signing of the Treaty on Confidence-building in the district boundaries in Shanghai by the heads of states of Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

As known that on June 14-15, 2001 Presidents of member states of the "Shanghai Five" China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan met for their sixth summit in Shanghai and announced Uzbekistan's accession to the organization. The six heads of the state held the first SCO summit on June 15, 2001 in Shanghai and signed the Declaration of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, officially inaugurating the SCO.

June 17, 2004 The fourth summit meeting of the SCO took place in Uzbek capital of Tashkent. During the summit, Mongolia became the first country to receive the status of an observer country. Within the SCO, Mongolia primarily interested in participating in the economic cooperation of this organization, so the importance it attaches to cooperation in energy, infrastructure, and increased transit traffic. January 22, 2010 in the capital of an observer in Ulaanbaatar for the first time the regular meeting of the SCO Business Council.
