Standing Committee discusses criminal law amendment

On Tuesday, the Standing Committee on Justice discussed a proposed amendment to the criminal law, which has been submitted by a group of MPs headed by Z.Enkhbold. The committee decided to submit the amendment to Parliament.

The amendment would make it a crime for a citizen to vote or attempt to vote twice in any presidential, parliamentary, or citizens’ representatives’ assembly election.

It would also make it a crime for state officials to organize illegal voting or interfere with election activity. Violators would be dismissed from their official positions.

The committee also discussed an amendment submitted by a group of MPs headed by S.Erdene. The amendment deals with legal bodies that violate the Constitution. It also says that if a legal body violates the Constitution, and death or property damage result, the guilty individual will face 10 to 25 years imprisonment.

The committee members decided to submit the second amendment issue to Parliament as well.
