Nine Mongolians qualify for 2012 London Olympics
Nine Mongolian athletes have earned spots in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
They are: Honored Athlete and Labor Hero shooter O.Gundegmaa; track and field athletes B.Ser-Od and L.Otgonbayar; archers J.Gantugs and B.Urantungalag; freestyle wrestlers O.Nasanburmaa and U.Chuluunbat; and boxers U.Munkh-Erdene and P.Serdamba.
Also, the following athletes have qualified for the Paralympic Games: judo wrestlers B.Ganbat, P.Bolortuya, A.Munkhbat, D.Ganbat, and M.Ochirkhuyag; archers B.Oyun-Erdene and B.Javzmaa; shooter Ts.Lkhamsuren; and track and field athlete G.Munkhbayar.
Deputy Prime Minister M.Enkhbold told the Government meeting on Tuesday that altogether 142 athletes under 34 trainers are preparing to compete in 14 events at the 2012 Olympic Games. He said that Mongolian athletes have won a total of 198 medals (21 gold, 61 silver, 86 bronze) in world championship and other international tournaments.
