“100,000 Apartments” program off to slow start
Some low- and middle-income citizens hoping to buy subsidized apartments
under the government’s “100,000 Apartments” program say they are
disappointed with the program’s progress.
The government has said it plans to build 100,000 apartments, including 75,000 in the capital. A groundbreaking ceremony was held last August in Yarmag, where 15,000 apartments are to be built in three parts, with each part to be constructed in two phases. But progress has been slow.
The government has decided to allocate MNT 1 million to citizens who buy an apartment in the project. The 2012 budget has allocated MNT 100 billion to 100,000 citizens even though the program has not been fully implemented.
