Mongolian athletes in 2011
2011 is a significant year for Mongolian athletes because the London Olympic Games is coming in the near future. The World Championships are waiting for athletes of top four sports of Mongolia: judo, free style wrestling, shooting and boxing.
Judo wrestlers to compete in Paris
The 28th Judo World Championship will take place in Paris in August. Mongolian wrestlers were successful World Championships during the past years and athletes seek more success. The first tournament in 2011 will be World Masters of Baku, Azerbaijan next week with six Mongolian judo wrestlers will compete with the best 16 wrestlers of the world in each weight category.
Then comes the Men’s World Cup in Georgia, and women’s in Bulgaria by the end of January. In February, Grand Slam in Paris and two World Cups and Grand Prix in Germany. Tournaments are important because the athletes will collect for Olympic Games rights.
Free style wrestlers aim for two Olympic champions
Free style wrestlers have different rules to gain Olympic Games rights. Except some tournaments, athletes must win a continental championship or win medals from World Championships. In 2010, D.Battsetseg won World Championship, the first gold in 35 years. Two others won Asian Games. They set goals to win two gold medals from London Olympics in 2012.
According to the FILA schedule, the Asian Championship will take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan between May 19 and 22. Istanbul, Turkey will host The World Championship of free style wrestling between September 12 and 18.

Mongolian boxers weren’t successful in international arena in 2010 but the World Championship is waiting for boxers this year. Along the AIBA rules, the World Championship is organized in odd years and this year’s tournament will be organized in Pusan, South Korea between September 16 and October 1. Mongolian boxers including Beijing Olympic silver medalist and gold medalist of World Championship in Milan in 2009 P.Serdamba; silver medalist N.Tugstsogt and Beijing Olympic Champion E.Badar-Uugan are the ones who are expected to get Olympic rights.
Shooting athletes will compete in Serbia
World Youth Champion was born in 2010. Mongolian shooting athletes will compete in World Championship in Belgrade, Serbia in September. Mongolians biggest hopes are O.Gundegmaa, Ts.Khongorzul, Ts.Munkhzul and D.Batkhuyag.
