N. Altankhuyag meets WB country director
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The First Deputy Premier of Mongolia N.Altankhyag received Monday Mrs. Coralie Gevers, who was appointed the country director of the World Bank for Mongolia in December last year.
Mrs. Gevers has asked the First Deputy Premier to give his opinions about the projects and programs being implemented by the WB.
Mentioning that he appreciates many works done by Mrs. Gevers's predecessor, Altankhuyag has replied that it would be right to express any thoughts on this matter after having run meetings and talks.
"Our side wants to expand the cooperation with the WB and to ask it to increase loans and soften credit terms, for big amount of money--some one billion U.S. dollars in the first turn--are needed for drawing up technical and economic justifications for the works included in the three great directions such as mining, great construction and industry," he has said.
In response, Mrs. Gevers has said she is discussing with the WB a possibility of realizing a project on issuing USD 25 million for working out technical and economic justification in the mining sphere. If this will get an approval from Mongolia's Government, parliament and related Standing committee, the money come this summer, she has added.
"The World Bank tries to be flexible when giving soft loans, moreover, since Your country is entering a group of middle-income countries, we can talk about issuing not only soft loans, but also commercial loans," Mrs. Gevers has said adding that the latter might be small until Mongolia's economics becomes stable.
Then Mrs. Gevers has promised to study the proposals of the First Deputy Premier.
