Mongolia takes five medals from Asian Wrestling Championship on the first day

The Mongolian national freestyle wrestling team is competing in the 2014 Asian Wrestling Championship, which is taking place from April 23 to 26 in Astana, Kazakhstan.


The wrestlers are competing in all weight categories of the tournament.

On the first day of the competition, five Mongolian wrestlers won medals. Silver medalists include International Sports Master D.Tsogtbaatar, who competed in the men’s 57 kg contest, International Sports Master N.Zolboo, in the men’s 125 kg category, and Sports Master B.Shoovdor who competed in the women’s 58 kg.

The silver medal captured by B.Shoovdor is the 20th silver medal taken from the Asian Wrestling Championship by Mongolia.

Sports Master B.Batmagnai defeated Asian champion Dauren Zhumagaziyev of Kazakhstan in the men’s 65 kg contest and captured a bronze medal. International Sports Master O.Uitumen defeated H.Kim from South Korea in the men’s 86 kg contest to win a bronze medal.

The Mongolian national wrestlers team is coached by Ts.Tsogtbayar, O.Purevbaatar, B.Batbayar, D.Batnyam and T.Enkhtuya.

Mongolian international referee Kh.Ganbold has been selected as one of the judges for the event.
