D.BATTULGA RECEIVES HAZARA STUDENTS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Hazara students studying in Mongolia have stressed that they are very glad to hear the Mongolian President's appeal to all the Mongolians to return home, made on the eve of New year. They said it on Monday during a meeting with D.Battulga, a head of the Presidential Office.
They noted that the Hazara people live in several countries today six million of whom are in Afghanistan. "Due to living far from the land of our ancestors for many centuries, our culture and language considerably transformed. However, we have a great aspiration to live in Mongolia," they underlined. "Those who want to come here always face a visa problem. We must make a transit through Beijing to get the Mongolian visa," the students said and asked to open Mongolia's embassy in Afghanistan for the sake of mutual visits.
The students emphasized that they really appreciate the President's appeal, and said they also want to talk to him and express their sincere words.
The Khazara students are Gulam Abbas, Mekdad Salehi, Zahra Gulami, Moh Anvar and Razia Husseini.
Persian speaking Hazara people considered as descents of Mongolians. Today they live in Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan, making the minority population of these countries. The name "Hazara" comes from the Persian word "hazar" which means "thousand". According to scholars, the term was first used to refer to a Mongol military unit of 1,000 but was later applied to a distinct group of people.
