Mongol Deputy Minister receives visiting UNPF official
Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade B.Bolor yesterday received the head of the Asia and Pacific Regional Office of the UN Population Fund, Mrs. Nobuko Horibe, and noted the happy coincidence that her visit to Mongolia was in the 50th anniversary year of the country’s membership of the UN.
The two exchanged views on the ongoing cooperation between Mongolia and the UNPF in various areas.
Mrs. Horibe noted that the UNPF has helped Mongolia implement programs on reproductive health, demographic development issues and gender equality. A new slew of programs to be implemented between now and 2016 will help the Government reach several medium- and long-term goals, such as allowing citizens in remote settlements access to basic services, and focusing on the special health needs of young adults and adolescents.
