Mongolian Boxers Bring Home Gold and Silver
Mongolians bagged two gold and two silver medals in “Belgrade Winner-2011” an international boxing tournament which was held in Belgrade, Serbia from April 21st to 23rd, 2011.
Eight best Mongolian boxers took part in the tournament.
In particular, World champion and Olympic silver medalist P.Serdamba grabbed the gold medal when he defeated Serbian Vanya Bakich with a huge score of 17-6 in the final match.
The second gold for Mongolia was secured by Mongolian State Honored Athlete and bronze medalist of the World Championship U.Munkh-Erdene when he defeated Guila Keith in the final round at the 64kg weight class.
In 49kg weight category, Mongolia’s young wizard G.Ariunbold earned the silver medal and the gold medal was claimed by Georgy Andonov from Bulgaria with a margin of 2 points in the final.
In the 60kg weight category B.Javkhlan grabbed the silver medal by overpowering Samat Bashenov from Kazakhstan, 16-12, in the semifinal. Josh Taylor from Scotland took the gold medal in that event.
D.Iderkhuu from Mongolia lost his opening match to World Champion Detelin Dalakliev from Bulgaria by margin of 3-1 in 56kg weight division.
Also, S.Erdenebayar (81kg), J.Otgonjargal (69kg), T.Chuluuntumur (75kg) and D.Iderbat (+91kg) lost their matches in the tournament.
More than 100 boxers from Serbia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, Algeria, Macedonia, Scotland, Qatar, Bosnia, Moldavia and Mongolia competed in this tournament.
