McCloskey Mongolia Coal and Infrastructure Conference 2001 Opens

After the mega conference and exhibition organized by the Ministry of Minerals and Infrastructure last month, yesterday started another mega event called McCloskey Mongolia Coal and Infrastructure Conference 2001 at the Ulaanbaatar hotel.

The conference is scheduled for Thursday 9th April and Friday 10th April. There are more than 300 delegates from many different countries attending the conference.


Large companies including Rio Tinto, Peabody Energy, Mitsui & Co, Aspire mining, Alpha coal sales, BN-Paribas, South Gobi Sands, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are to gather in Mongolia to discuss about infrastructure of Mongolia. Russia Ministry of Energy and National Coal Transportation Association of China will also take part in the meeting.

“Mongolian coal and infrastructure 2011” will be held between April 7-8 and the aim of the conference is to attract new foreign enterprises and investors who are interested in Mongolia.

During the two days conference, the following speeches will be provided by international experts: “Mongolian Coal”, “Current problems and barriers faced when exporting coal to China”, “Mongolian Economy at present and future”, “World’s demand and supply for coking coal”, “Analysis of the international metal market” and “China’s coking coal demand for the next two years”.

Over 170 foreign representatives are gathering for the coal conference and 70 percent of those representatives are first time visitors to Mongolia.
