UNICEF offers help for children’s rights programs

Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Head of the National Council for Children M.Enkhbold yesterday received UN Resident Coordinator Ms. Rana Flowers who promised UNICEF support for organizations working on preventing and protecting children from possible risks.

Enkhbold said some special programs have already begun, for example, on ensuring safety for child jockeys and on protecting children from hard labor and negative influences of mining. He expected more support for this initiative to come from NGOs, state organizations and media. Children and their families will be taught how to prevent accidents and threats and how to secure protection. UNICEF support, he said, will be of great help in attracting public participation in programs to ensure children’s rights and safety from road accidents, pressure and violence at home, and hard labor. There is also need to protect the rights of children who violate laws, he said.
