Finance Minister addresses IMF meeting, meets officials
Minister for Finance S.Bayartsogt, leading the Mongolian team, told the Spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, held in Washington on April 16 and 17, that the country’s tax policy in the mining sector was aimed at helping economic development.
He held meetings with several important people on the sidelines of the conference. They included the Bank/ IMF Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific, the Director for Mongolia, the Director of the International Finance Corporation responsible.
He sought the suggestion of IMF officials on how to improve taxation management and strengthen the tax collection system. He also asked for a quick decision on the limits of Mongolia’s special drawing rights and how much loan and aid will come from the World Bank in the next four years. He signed an agreement to cooperate with the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency of the Bank to attract investment.
