MCA ROAD PROJECT HOSTS MEETING

The news was sounded Monday by website of the U.S Embassy in Mongolia. During the meeting, presentation has been made on Millennium Challenge Compact between the US and the Government of Mongolia, its amendment and Road Project's activities as well as current conditions, needs, importance and outcomes of rehabilitation and construction of Ulaanbaatar-Nalaikh road and bridge.

Additionally, brief information has been introduced by the MCA-M, Road Project Consultant (HPM) on design and drawings for the construction including location of new and current road and bridge, alignment options technical specifications, whereas needs for resettlement, and Resettlement Policy Framework (RPF) and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP), as well as current outlook for implementation of RAP were presented by MCA-M, ESA and ESOC. The MCA-M, Road Project specialists responded to questions raised by the participants of the meeting. The consultative meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding with constructive and interactive discussions. Besides their concerns, people expressed their appreciation towards UB-Nalaikh road construction by saying,”…public interest in this regard should be above the personal interested. We are happy to learn about launch of construction and rehabilitation of road and bridge that are crucial to our daily life. As said, development follows the road and that is why this is an important investment that will bring about benefits not only to us but to our children,” The Governor of 11th khoroo, Bayanzurkh District of Ulaanbaatar emphasized that “I am happy that Ulaanbaatar-Nalaikh road and bridge will be rehabilitated and constructed by MCA-M, Road Project. We have been waiting for it for long time. We will support this activity which is being undertaken within the framework of development policy of the Government of Mongolia.” The meeting has brought together 19 representatives from households that may be affected by resettlement, directors and specialists of MCA-M, Road Project, ESA, ESOC and Stakeholders’ Committee.
