Mongolia signs agreement with London Stock Exchange - PM

Feb 18 (Reuters) - Mongolia's stock exchange has signed an agreement with the London Stock Exchange, the country's prime minister told Reuters on Friday, without giving any details.

"The agreement was signed between the London stock exchange and the Mongolian Stock Exchange. So I think they are in a state of preparation," said Sukhbaatar Batbold, who was attending a lecture at the National University of Singapore.

Batbold had said in September the LSE was the front-runner in a bid to manage a new local stock exchange.

The government had shortlisted NASDAQ OMX, Deutsche Borse, the Korean Stock Exchange as well as the LSE after it floated an international tender offer for a management contract of the stock exchange. (Reporting by Randy Fabi, writing by Ramya Venugopal, editing by Miral Fahmy)
