Aspire appoints CFO and operations GM

PERTH (miningweekly.com) − Mongolia-focused coal explorer Aspire Mining has appointed Phil Rundell as CFO and Fergus Campbell as GM of operations to bolster the company as it brings its Ovoot coking coal project into production.

Rundell would take on the role of CFO in addition to his current role as company secretary. He has over 30 years of experience as a chartered accountant.

Campbell, a mining engineer, has held positions with ASX-listed Straits Resources and HWE Mining, a subsidiary of Leighton Holdings.

Campbell managed the development and construction of the Bengalon coal project, in Kalimantan, while a project manager with PT Darma Henwa, taking it to six-million tons a year, within 22 months of mobilisation.

MD David Paul said on Friday that the key appointments would bolster the company “considerably”, as it moved into production in northern Mongolia.

The Ovoot coking coal project is comprised of six granted licenses covering 509 km2 of land area and is located in the Khuvsgul province, in Northern Mongolia with close proximity to China and Russia.

In October last year, a maiden 330-million ton Joint Ore Reserves Committee compliant resource was announced for the project.
