Mongolia veterinary agency confirms PRRS outbreak
The Veterinary and Animal Breeding Agency in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, has reported an outbreak of PRRS in the country’s Darkhan-Uul province, in the district of Darkhan.
The agency reported the outbreak on February 20 to the Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
The report did not state in what facility the outbreak occurred, but 66 swine were found susceptible, of which 14 proved affected. Eleven animals died, after which the rest was destroyed.
The source for the outbreak so far is unknown, although it was reported as suspect last year. Measures were taken like quarantine, screening, zoning and disinfection. Vaccination or treatment was not applied.
