Russia to lift restrictions on Mongolian livestock supplies — Putin
ULAN BATOR, September 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia will lift restrictions on Mongolian livestock supplies, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.
The ministries of both countries will be instructed to prepare a “roadmap” for expanding multilateral cooperation. The “roadmap” “should be aimed at creating new productions, stimulating trade and mutual investments, and expanding humanitarian contacts”, Putin said after talks with his Mongolian counterpart Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorzh.
The Russian president considered cooperation with Mongolia in ore mining successful. He cited as an example the work of the Erdenet Joint Venture, Asia’s largest deposit of copper ore and molybdenum, and Mongolrostsvetmet LLC engaged in mining fluorspar and gold. These joint ventures provide 20% of Mongolia’s GDP, Putin said.
Commenting on restrictions on livestock supplies, he said a decision would be made shortly.
Mongolia has good possibilities to increase livestock supplies to the Russian market by observing corresponding Russian sanitary norms, Putin said.
Specialists of both countries are maintaining contacts. “I’m sure they will achieve the success,” he said.
Russia imposed restrictions on Mongolian meat and meat products supplies due to the foot-and-mouth disease.
“The signing of an agreement on visa-free travels has important significance,” Putin said.
He pledged to coordinate efforts in international relations and continue cooperation on international platforms - the U.N. and the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation).
“I’d like to say the talks proved the countries’ drive for strengthening multilateral cooperation,” Putin added.
