Ill Supervision Blamed for China Desert Pollution
Authorities in north China's Inner Mongolia has said loopholes in regulations are the culprit, which results in a massive pollution of its desert due to sewage discharge, the Beijing News reports on Saturday.
Chen Zhanyun, director of Alashan Tengger Economic-Technological Development Area Administrative Committee says local government has formed a joint team of this pollution incident for further investigation.
Earlier, the Beijing News published a series of photos, showing massive industrial wastes pouring into a huge sewage pool in the Tengger Desert. All the wastes are reportedly ill-treated before they are buried.
As the fourth largest desert in China, Tengger Desert is located in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
