Conference addresses issues facing young people

The fifth conference of the Social Democracy Mongolian Youth Union (SDMYU) is being held at the Independence Palace, with 360 young delegates taking part.
MPP Chairman and Prime Minister S.Batbold is taking part as well. The Premier and SDMYU President L.Oyun-Erdene will sign a memorandum of understanding. The memorandum aims to support the development and political and social participation of young people, who make up about 70 percent of the country’s population.

S.Batbold noted that preparing the younger generation is critical to the country’s development. He said state policy and the MPP’s policies have paid attention to youth development, and he said a state agency that focuses on youth issues should be established.
He underlined that the MPP has always supported youth, and its history shows that the party has prepared many young leaders. He said that the party supports young people who work fairly.

L.Oyun-Erdene stated that the memorandum focuses on youth organizations to work at election units. He said that the union has considered proposing that young people be nominated as candidates four years before an election is held, to give them experience. He added that 1,000 young people from all khoroos and soums are being groomed as candidates.
