MONGOLIA-RUSSIA CONSULTATION ON WATER PROTECTION RUNS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The 10th consultation ran of plenipotentiaries, who implement an agreement on protecting and using boundary waters on October 26-28 in the city. The agreement has been established between governments of Mongolia and Russian Federation. The gathered have noted that the sides have made regular some works such as exchanging information about quality of the transboundary waters, protecting the water reserves, refining upon legal norms of water-related relations and others. Then they have discussed action taken in 2010-2011 in frames of a programme on control and analyses of the transboundary waters quality, measures in times of emergency, how some entities located on basins of the Selenge, Orkhon and Onon rivers pollute the waters, and touched upon a plan for running a meeting and exhibition themed “Selenge river without limits". The Russian side has given an answer to the Mongolian report about a pollution that has been brought to Mongoia by Russian Ashinga river, one of the beginnings of the Onon river. The Russian side claims that it has put a control over activities of the Russian entity that is mining gold at South Shin river of Ashinga and is analyzing its sample water. The consultation has been chaired by Mongolian government's Plenipotentiary of the agreement, Vice Minister of Nature environment and tourism Ch.Jargalsaikhan and by Russian government's Plenipotentiary of the agreement, vice head of Federal agency of Water resources V.N.Kuryanov.
