INT'L MARITIME ORGANIZATION CONVENES

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Mongolian delegation is taking part in the 27th Assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). In the measure, which is running November 21-30 in London, Mongolia has been represented by Yo.Manlaibayar, the Ministry of Roads, Transportation, Construction and Urban Development; J.Jambajamts, a deputy head of Sea Aadministration; and D.Angar, an advisor at Mongolia's Embassy in Great Britain. The IMO is a specialized agency of the United Nations with 170 member states and three Associate Members. Its primary purpose is to develop and maintain a comprehensive regulatory framework for shipping. Its remit today includes safety, environmental concerns, legal matters, technical cooperation, maritime security, the efficiency of shipping. There are about 300 ships with the Mongolian state flag operating at sea.
