Civil servants expect salary rise

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday made a decision to increase salaries of civil servants from October 1, 2010.

A 30-percent rise is expected in salaries' scale and their standard sizes, and the same increase will be observed in all types of allowances.

As of present, a civil servant is paid some MNT 323.0 thousand--a state administration worker receives approximately MNT 336.7 thousand, a civil service servant--MNT 321.3 thousand, and the state special service worker--MNT 310.0.

Increased salaries will be for the state administration worker some MNT 437.7 thousand, for the civil service servant--MNT 417.7 thousand, and for state special service worker--MNT 403.9 thousand per month.

The salaries of civil service servants, who are divided into several categories as sciences, health, education, culture and arts workers, are almost equal to those of the state administration workers, meanwhile, civil service servants of lower ranks are paid 15 percent less than other categories. This question will be taken into consideration, the cabinet decided.

Generally, the minimum size of a civil servant will increase up to MNT 188,674 from MNT 145,134.
Some 154 thousand civil servants will enjoy a salary rise.
