President suggests less traffic control when VIPs travel
The head of the President’s Office, D.Battulga yesterday called Col.Kh.Enkhjargal and Col. L.Batzorig, Chief of Traffic Police Board and State Security respectively, to tell them of a suggestion from President Ts.Elbegdorj on management of traffic when the President or the Prime Minister or the Parliament Speaker is out. To keep the road free for them, all cars are asked to use one lane, leading to jams and to citizens’ inconvenience. The President wants the practice to stop.
Enkhjargal said he was glad the President wanted to help people, and said the police would see that there is more space for cars but providing proper security to dignitaries was also important. Battulga would discuss the matter with the Prime Minister and the Speaker and if they agreed to the new plans of the police the new system of traffic control will take effect on September 20.
