Yingluck set for Mongolia mission

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will leave Saturday for a three-day official visit to Mongolia to boost trade and investment ties.

Rattikul Chansuriya, deputy director-general of the Foreign Ministry's International Economic Affairs Department, said 29 Thai businessmen will accompany the premier.

The delegation will return on Monday. Ms Yingluck will be the first Thai leader to visit the landlocked country, and is due to discuss economic cooperation with Mongolian counterpart Norovyn Altankhuyag.

She will witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on science and technology cooperation; an MoU to establish bilateral cooperation; and an MoU for collaboration between the nations' respective chambers of commerce.

Ms Yingluck will also make an address to the Community of Democracies, an NGO which works to support emerging democracies and of which Mongolia is president.

The speech will emphasise the need for sustainable democracy and for promoting the role of women and the rule of law, Ms Rattikul said.
