People of Mongol Origin hold first World Conference
The first World Conference of People of Mongol Origin was held in Katmandu in Nepal on April 4th. The Ulaanbaatar based World Centre for People of Mongol Origin and the Indigenous Mongoloid Republican Forum of Nepal jointly held the conference. The World Conference of People of Mongol Origin will be annually organized from this year.
The President of the World Centre for People of Mongol Origin, Nyamdavaa Oidov, PhD, presented a speech about Mongol origin people`s culture, tradition and introduced a book he wrote about it during the World Conference.
Documentary films of Mongolians culture, tradition, history, national dress show, long Mongolian throat song, and a performance of a horse head fiddle were shown to participants at the conference.
Speeches by the president of the Indigenous Mongoloid Republican Forum of Nepal, Kumar Fudong, Member of Parliament of India, Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary and Honorary Council of Mongolia in Nepal, Tsetan Shreshta were praised by participants.
Some well known tribal leaders attended the conference. The interaction highlighted the problems faced by mongoloid people in India and Nepal and a strong need was felt to prevent the cultural decay in mongoloid people and to preserve cultural and religious traditions of these people. The conference was very well attended and was followed by the Miss Mongol competition.
The winner of the “Miss” competition, Muskan Limbo won the prize of an invitation to spend a holiday in Ulaanbaatar complete with flight tickets.
The next World Conference of People of Mongol Origin will be held in India in 2014 and again n 2015 in Ulaanbaatar.
