EC set to sign Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with Mongolia
The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, Catherine Ashton, who is in Ulaanbaatar to attend the VII Ministerial Meeting of the Community of Democracies, will reportedly sign a Partnership and Cooperation agreement with Mongolia during her visit.
The Partnership and Cooperation agreement with Mongolia is anticipated as a means of paving the way for closer cooperation on economic, environmental, and other issues. A Financing Agreement in Support of the Modernization of Mongolia’s Standardization System is also expected to be signed.
The first European Union visitor at this level to Mongolia, the High Representative is expected to meet President Ts.Elbegdorj, Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag, and Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold during her visit.
The High Representative was reported as saying, “I am very pleased to come to Mongolia during its successful chairmanship of the Community of Democracies. The signing of our Partnership and Cooperation Agreement will pave the way for much closer contact between us.”
