Australian firm wins copper project contract in Mongolia
SYDNEY, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Australian engineering giant WorleyParsons announced on Friday it had been awarded a contract to build a copper and molybdenum processing plant in Mongolia.
WorleyParsons said it had won the engineering, procurement and construction management contract for the delivery of the Tsagaan Suvarga copper-molybdenum concentrator project for Mongolyn Alt Corporation, the largest privately owned company in Mongolia.
The company said it expected revenues of about 65 million AU dollars (67.61 million U.S. dollars) from the contract.
The Tsagaan Suvarga project is located in Southern Mongolia. It will include a copper-molybdenum concentrator with a processing capacity of 14.6 million tonnes a year and associated infrastructure including a 280-kilometre power line.
"Having recently opened an office in Ulaanbaatar, WorleyParsons is committed to securing a long-term presence in Mongolia and to playing a major role in the development of Mongolia's natural resources and infrastructure," WorleyParsons Chief Executive Officer John Grill said in a statement on Friday.
