China dominates Asian Women's Boxing Championship in Mongolia
ULAN BATOR, March 25 (Xinhua) -- China dominated the 6th Asian Women's BoxingChampionship, which concluded here on Sunday, with five gold, two silver and threebronze medals.
China, who topped the medal tally, sent 10 boxers to the tournament and every boxerhad won a medal. Liu Kejia, Wang Dongmei, Li Jinzi, Yuan Meiqing and Li Yunfeigained gold medals in 54kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, and over 81kg categories.
Host Mongolia won 2 gold medals and 2 bronze medals, finishing third on the tally.Tumurhuyag Bolortuul and Erdenesoyol Uyanga won the golds in the 48kg and 64kgcategories.
India also made good performances during this tournament. Two gold, four silver andtwo bronze medals enabled the team to obtain the second place.
The remaining gold medal for the 57kg category was grabbed by Thai boxerTassamalee Thongjan.
The tournament which began on March 16 attracted nearly 100 boxers from 17countries and regions including China, Mongolia, Afghanistan, India, Japan, Jordan,Kazakhstan, South Korea and DPR Korea.
